The two recipients appear to owe Ammonios money, which Maximus has been paying interest for since 3 years. He appeals to their shame and threatens to come to Oxyrhynchus to collect the amount from them in one go himself, should Ammonios approach him again. Use of the phrases \u03b4\u03b9\u1f70 \u03c4\u1f78\u03bd \u0398\u03b5\u1f7c\u03bd (line 9), \u03bc\u1f70 \u03c4\u1f74\u03bd \u03b3\u1f70\u03c1 \u03b8\u03af\u03b1\u03bd \u03c0\u03c1\u03cc\u03bd\u03bf\u03b9\u03b1(\u03bd) (line 16-17) and \u03c0\u03b1\u03c1\u1f70 \u0398\u03b5\u1ff7 (line 26-27). The verso (P.Oxy. 48 3422) identifies Maximus as headman of the village Leukiou. He can likely be seen as the same Maximus from P.Oxy. XLVIII 3428 and 3419.",
