P.Oxy. VI 897, P.Oxy. 6 897: Declaration to two Oxyrhynchite riparii Four inhabitants of a village issue this declaration (16.5 x 12.6 cm), addressed to Flavius Eulogius and Flavius Dionysarius, two riparii (ῥιπάριοι, police officials). The issuers identify themselves as Aurelius Amois son of Horus, Aurelius Patapis son of Paesius, Aurelius Sarmates (who is called πρεσβύτερος, which could imply a Christian function, an elder in the community or simply a distinction from another Sarmates), and Aurelius Papnouthios son of Paesius, all from the village of Iseion Zapitou. They declare under the divine oath ([τῷ] θε[ί]ῳ ὅρκῳ, line 16) that Choous son of Herakleos is no longer in their village. Although broken off at the bottom, this section is assumed to have only contained the signatures. Despite the used oath, this document has been retained here as a possible Christian document, since it is not an unambiguous indication of a non-Christian affiliation of the signees (see e.g., P.Kellis I 48).",
