                "description": "PSI 4 311: Letter (attachment) with instructions to reach bishop Theodotos of Laodicea This fragmented sheet (13 x 23.5 cm) contains the remains of 25 lines, presumably the end of the text. It appears the present sheet was a companion piece to a letter addressed to the ε\u0313πισκ\u03ccπω\u0345 τη\u0342ς Λαυδικ\u03afας (line 8–9), specifically bishop Theodotos of Laodicea (line 19 and 27), since it consists of detailed instructions on how to deliver the letter to its destination, even pointing out that one could be confused by the fact that there is a Laodicea in Phrygia and another in Syria (this is the intended one, two stations before Antioch). The phrase \u1f00δελφ\u1f72 \u1f00σ\u03cdγκριτε is used in the address along the left margin.\r\nThe letter implies an epistolary exchange between a group of Christians of Oxyrhynchus and Theodotus of Laodicea, a figure well attested in the patristic literature, who had Eusebian, if not plainly Arian, leanings. As such, the letter might suggest the existence of an Arian community in the city, although this inference is not directly supported by the text (Choat 2006: 127 doubts the connection). The sender could be Pelagius, bishop of Oxyrhynchus between c. 325 and 347 (Blumell 2012: 291-292).",
