Mag. 2 84, SB 14 12113: Phylakterion, protection from evil The papyrus (~12.8 x 7 cm) is broken off on all sides and contains 14 strongly fragmentary lines. Initially assumed to form part of a Christian prayer, Daniel 1977 identified the sheet as being part of a magical handbook, intended to protect a woman from a number of misfortunes, such as evil acts, daimon visitation (δ\u03adμον[ων], line 7), elements connected to Hekate, ghosts, epilepsy, bodily diseases and enchantment. A possible Christian element is κ(\u03cdρι)ε in line 1 as a nomen sacrum. The verso is blank.",
