P.Abinn. 36; P.Gen. I 53: Letter to Abinnaeus.
Palas, Abinnaeus's house-born slave, writes in fulsome terms to his master, making a request about a sheep on behalf of his wife and promising not to 'secede' as on a former occasion. Christian final salutation with nomen sacrum: "I pray for your health in the Lord (ἐν κ(υρί)ῳ) for many years", but polytheistic exclamation in the body of the letter: "by the gods" (πρὸς θεόν, l. θεῶν). M. Choat notices that the closing formula was written in a different hand and suggests that the letter was written by a scribe, whereas the closing formula with the nomen sacrum would have been written by Palas himself (Choat 2006:21-22).
On the question of whether Abinnaeus, commander of the cavalry (praefectus alae) in Dionysias, was a Christian and for his relationship with monks and clergy, see Bell et al. 1962: 32-33, Barnes 1985: 373-374, Choat 2006: passim, Luijendijk 2008: 35, n. 42, Kaiser 2015: 383, Choat 2017: 47.

Recto: semi-cursive hand, with the last two lines written in a more cursive hand; text runs along the fibres. Verso: address, along the fibres.",
