P.Oxy. IX 1170; Gregory-Aland P19; 𝔓19; NT19
A larger sized fragment containing the 2 Gospel of Matthew 10-11. The fragment is singular in its avoidance of nomina sacra and theological contractions in a New Testament context.
The papyrus is preserved almost completely at the top and bottom, but the sides and surface has suffered damage. The script is an upright uncial comparable to P.Oxy. IX 1169 (5/6 c.), and it is written in a brown ink with some instances of diaereses; see ed. pr.
The text contains a unique reading in l. 7 (an οὖν that is otherwise absent from the MSS), and is posited by the ed. pr. as the earliest witness for αὐτόν in this position in Matt 10:32 (though it appears in reversed word order in MS D). The text also omits Matthew 10:37b and 10:38, agreeing with the MSS B*/D and M respectively. This double omission occurs also in Shem Tob's Hebrew Matthew, a text that post-dates this fragment; see Howard 1995: 186-187. ",
