Description

SB XXVIII 17208: Lease of land

Almost complete lease, of which only the upper part, with the names of the parties is lost. The lessee remains unknown but the subscription of the lessor gives his identity: Fl. Faustos son of Petros. As he is said to be illiterate, the priest Aur. Phileas, son of Petros (his brother?), has written for him.

Cursive handwriting, running along fibres and getting faster in the bottom.

The subscription of Fl. Faustos is separated from the repayment formula by a cross; and the date formula, on the following line, starts also with a cross.

Verso: docket, writing running along fibres.
