Description | P.Col. VII 161: Receipt for deliveries in kind. Fragment of an administrative roll. Two columns of writing with receipts for deliveries of wheat, barley, pork, and meat done by Heras, son of Sarapion and Sarapion, son of Venaphrios for the account of villagers of Karanis in the harbour of Leukogion. Deliveries of wheat are done to the boats of Hierakapollon, bishop. According to the editors, this bishop is the shipowner best attested in the Karanis receipts and had four ships under various captains (Bagnall and Lewis 1979: 103-104). His name is typically Panopolite. See also P.Col. VII 160. Text written along the fibres on the recto and across the fibres on the back; 9 different hands. |
