Description | I.Mon.Phoeb. 1; SEG XXIV 1218; SB X 10709 a: Memorial inscription Seven lines of a graffito written by Aur. Horion neoteros, reading "We were detained by force (?) among the recruits, until God had mercy on us and brought us to safety without fault, and we were all saved". Several other Greek and one Coptic graffiti in the area (I.Mon.Phoeb 2; 3; 5; 43 and SEG LXII 1777) were linked to this same Horion neoteros, apparently one of a young group who were hiding from military recruitment or in the context of military operation (see ed. pr.; Rémondon 1955 and Delattre and Worp 2012). |
