The eagle was a pagan symbol of immortality before being taken over by Christians.

Part of the dossier of Horion neoteros, dated 4th c. in Delattre and Worp 2012, following the date given in ed.pr. by Rémondon. More recently Wipszycka has questioned the unity of the dossier, which is impossible to verify without any images (see Wipszycka 2009: 182-183, n. 49).
