Description

SEG XXXVIII 1693: Epitaph of Triadelphos

Bingen 1989: Rectangular terra cotta tablet with an inscription painted in red. The text, reading "Triadelphos | Α cross Ω", is written along the small side. At the last line, a serifed crux ansata with a dot in the middle of the upper circle.

According to Bingen 1989, this inscription is an archetype for the common use in Hermonthis of the crux ansata with alpha and omega on its sides, especially with arms getting larger at the exterior, and, as a loop, concentric circles or a circle with a dot in the middle.
