Description | BKT IX 155: Christian prayer (supplication with leuleu-formula). Single papyrus sheet with remnants of the margins preserved all around. The text is affected by holes and breaks, especially by one vertical and several horizontal folds. On recto 22 lines filling the page with repetitive prayer(s), on verso, short lines of repetitive, formulaic Christian text, with a mix of biblical and non-biblical vocabulary and the repetition of the formula λευλευ. Verso starts with a cross, the rest of the page blank. Large, student-like, easily legible script. Nomina sacra only partly abbreviated, as is often the case with subliterary pieces. Recto: text written along the fibres; Verso: across the fibres. |
