Description

SB XIV 11458; O.Mich. I 694: Name tag

One line only was written on this ostracon: the name Polyb (for Polybios) preceded by a simple cross. Letters are described as "large and clumsy" in a hand dated to late 3rd or early 4th c. in Youtie 1941: 456-457.

He notes that the name could be complete as a characteristic Coptic treatment (omission of -ιος) of the Greek name Polybios. This name is not attested in Egypt later than 4th c. (TM Nam 5217)
