O.Bahria 10; SB XX 14892: Payment order.

Payment order in form of a letter from Athanasios to Petros, priest (per(sbuteros) for presbuteros) of the village of Poka: the latter is instructed to distribute one artaba of barley. The text is dated to August 27, indiction 11.

Apart from the palaeographic criteria, this text is part of a Greek ostraca lot (O.Bahria 3, 6, 7 and 10) of which one mentions year 51, that is, according to the Oxyrhynchite era, the year 374/375 (see Wagner 1987: 87 and O.Bahria 6).

This ostracon was uncovered by A. Fakhry during the excavation of the brick buildings around the temple of Alexander the Great (Fakhry 1950: 47 and pl. XXIXa, and Wagner 1987: 86).
