Description

SB 20 15199: List of payments and recipients
This unusual text written on the scapula of an ox (32.6 x 15.6 cm) is complete save for some letters in the upper left corner. The first three lines record someone (this name is lost) with their son, Philoxinos son of Horion, and Thonios with his son, followed by ἀν( ) α or ἀν( ) β. The ed.pr. theorizes this abbreviation could indicate ἀν(άβολον) or ἀν(αβολάδιον), relating the text to vestis militaris, and the rest of the text to the adaeratio. The subsequent list of names comes accompanied by payments in δηναρίων μυριάδες (“myriads of denarii”). Names included are Philoxinos, Thoonis, Mar[…] son of Gerontios and Eisak; of special note is a Philoxinos μονωχὸς (line 6). The opposite side of the bone features a drawing of a branch or tree.
