IGChrEg 22: Funerary Epitaph for Joseph
The inscription (29 cm x 29 cm) is dated to Phamenoth 18th in the 8th year of an indiction cycle (φαρμ[ουθι] ιη ινδ[ικτιωνος] η). Besides using the epithet μακάριος for the deceased, Joseph, (the use of which is discussed in Pelsmaekers 1988), the tablet ends with a cross. The endings of lines 1, 3 and 4 are abbreviated with the same siglum.
