P.Oxy. X 1298, P.Oxy. 10 1298: Letter from Ammon to Gonatas
The author of this nearly-intact square letter (11.1 x 11.5 cm), Ammon, relays that he has recently been inappropriately treated when conducting business with wine. A certain Gounthos, and a Kastor son of Damostratos, the superintendent of wine, were involved in the altercation. The wine to be delivered had been intended for Ammon, Troilos and Dios. Ammon wishes his addressee Gonatas well τῷ κυρίω θεῷ (line 4). The recto contains the address, in which Gonatas is addressed as [τῷ κ]υρίῳ ἀδελφῷ (line 20). Gonatas also figures as the recipient of P.Horak 19 (dated to the early 4th c.).
