| Description | P.Lond. VI 1913: Deed of appointment of a deputy in the monastery of Hathor. Agreement between Aurelius Pageus (or Paieous), head of the Melitian community of the monastery of Hathor (2-3: μονῆς μονοχῶν̣ (l. μοναχῶν) | [καλ]ουμ̣έ̣νης Ἅθορ οὔ̣σ̣ης ἐν τῷ ἀπηλιωτικῷ ὄρι (l. ὄρει) τοῦ ἄνω Κυνοπολείτου), and the priors of the same monastery, to appoint Pageus' brother Aurelius Gerontius as a deputy in place of him, as he had been summoned by Constantine to attend the Synod of Caesarea. The duties of the deputy include supervision, administration and control of all affairs of the monastery. Subscriptions in different hands (from line 18 to the end) show that this is the authentic deed rather than a copy. |
