Description

P.Oxy. XXIV 2385; Gregory-Aland P71; 𝔓71; NT71

A papyrus fragment containing the Gospel of Matthew 19:10-11 and 17-18, probably close to the MS Vaticanus; see ed. pr.

The text is written in a biblical uncial and the letters vary in size and style. There are no clear occurrences of nomina sacra, but one instance could be required in the lacunae of l. 3; see ed. pr. This fragment is the earliest witness preserving an omission of Ἰησοῦς in l. 10, and remains alone in its haplographic ommission of the definite article before αἰτία in l. 3; see Blumell / Wayment 2015: 170.
