| Description | I.Oasis p. 32-33, no. 31; SB XX 14780; SEG 26 1790; SEG XXXVIII 1756: Visitor's inscription. "Paulos, Klaros soldiers of Apollonos Ano. "Jesus Christ" abbreviated ΙΗ ΧΡ (chrism). Under l. 1-2, on the right side of l. 3-5, in the middle of the wall, two praying figures are drawn. Other soldiers from Apollonos Ano/Edfu left inscriptions in the corridor leading to the church (see I.Oasis p. 36-38, no. 49 and no. 61), soldiers from the Secunda Traiana according to Notitia, Or. XXXI 34. 
 Add. I.Oasis p. 44, no. 31a: One more line, above no. 31, reading "Paulos, servant of Jesus Christ". Probably the same soldier from Apollonos Ano. |
