| Description | I.Oasis p. 43, no. 66; SB XX 14817; SEG XXVI 1784: Invocation. Four lines written within a frame. Double invocation to God and Christ (with nomen sacrum) to protect and keep the Latopolitans (i.e. Equites sagittarii indigenae, in Esna, according to the Not. Dign. Or. XXXI, 28) and their animals: ὁ Χ(ριστὸ)ς αὐτοῦ συντήρησ̣ο̣[ν] κ̣α̣ὶ̣ διαφύλαξαι τοῖς Λατωπολ[ίταις] μετὰ καὶ τῶν ζῴων ἑαυτῶν. One of these Latopolitan soldiers left an inscription in Dūš, see I.Oasis p. 59-60, no. 1. |
