Description

KV22

Papyrus fragment containing parts of Eusebius Historia ecclesiastica 6:43.7-8 and 11-12.

The small fragment 7 lines of text on the recto and the verso. The folio is estimated to have contained 37 lines of text per page originally.

The text contains marked breathings and accentuation (rough breathing in l. 5, recto and l. 5 verso; grave accent in l. 6, recto; acute accent in l. 6, verso).

After the publication of the ed. pr., the text was identified as part of Eusebius's Church history by J. Callaghan; see ref. ed.

The fragment is possibly the first papyrus witness of this work, or of its preliminary stage, and contains parts of a letter from the Roman bishop Cornelius to Bishop Fabius of Antioch; see Treu 1978: 154.
