Archaeological context

All of the material published by Kahle in 1954 was excavated in early 1907 at the monastery of Saint Apollo under the direction of Flinders Petrie (Kahle 1954, 2-3). There were no records indicating precise find-spots of the manuscripts, Crum states that they were scattered.
