Description	Nag Hammadi Codex I; Jung Codex Papyrus codex containing a variety of Gnostic texts in Coptic (Sahidic and L6 dialects), said to have been discovered along with 12 other codices in an area near Nag Hammadi, although the precise context and circumstance of their discovery in 1945 remains unclear (e.g. Nongbri 2018, 108-115). The contents of Nag Hammadi Codex I include: pp. A-B (NHC I, 1): Oratio Pauli (Prayer of the Apostle Paul; CC 0685), maybe written later than the rest, on the first blank and not paginated leaves of the codex; at the end, one crux ansata between two crosses, and below them, a chrism in the sequence "Holy Christ" (ὁ Χρ(ιστὸς) ἅγιος) (mentioned by Aland 1964: 3 and Hurtado 2006: 207 and n. 36). pp. 1-16 (NHC I, 2): Epistula Iacobi (Apocryphon of James; CC 0659); pp. 16-43 (NHC I, 3): Evangelium Veritatis (Gospel of Truth; CC 0667); pp. 43-50 (NHC I, 4): Epistula ad Rheginum / De Resurrectione (Tractate on Resurrection; CC 0657), copied by a second hand; pp. 51-140 (NHC I, 5): Tractatus Tripartitus (Tripartite Tractate; CC 0663); pp. 141-142: probably left blank. Use of the staurogram as an abbreviation in the word stauros (s7os) in the Gospel of Truth (see Aland 1964: 3 and Hurtado 2006: 207 and n. 36).
