Description

P.Haun. III 67: order of payment to a bishop

This sheet of papyrus preserves an order sent by Phileas instructing an unknown person (name in lacuna) to supply, for the holy martyria, to Apa T-- (or apa Pistos?) 8 artabas of grain and 2 of vegetable seeds. This Apa was presumably the bishop of Oxyrhynchos who would have then distributed their allowances to the holy martyria (plural) of Oxyrhynchos (see Van Minnen 2016).

The text is written on a coarse papyrus, across the fibres, in an upright cursive hand.

Verso: three lines of text with illegible letters and tachygraphic signs running across the fibres.
