Romain David joins DEChriM

Our project warmly welcomes Romain David, who is now in charge of DEChriM’s ceramic work-package. Romain specialises in the pottery of the late periods in the Nile Valley. He has worked regularly in Upper Egypt, especially at Karnak, as well as in Nubia (Saï, Sedeinga) and in the Central Sudan (Mouweis, el-Hassa, Damboya). His research focuses on the economic and cultural dynamics revealed by the study of ceramic corpora. He is interested in the process of Hellenisation in the Theban region, the influence of Egyptian ceramics on Sudanese ceramics and, more recently, in the representation of cultural diversity in Central Sudan through a technological approach to ceramics.
