III 99; Chrest.Wilck. 434; Pap. graec. mon. 60: Deed of surety Two fragments preserving the upper part of a document in which five skippers and shipowners offer, by sworn oath, caution for another shipowner and skipper to the councillor of the city of Hermopolis, epimeletes of the wheat of Alexandria for the 4th indiction. Among them, three come from the mone of Chaireou (Keriun), near Alexandria, and the two others come from Alexandria, one being skipper of the boat of the church of Alexandria (κ̣υβερνήτου πλοίου καθο̣λ̣ι̣κῆ̣ς̣ ἐκκλησίας). Other sailors of the church in 4th c. papyri are in P.Hamb. IV 267 and P.Oxy. XXXIV 2729. |
