Description

IGChrEg 21: Funerary Epitaph for Theodota
Measuring 19 cm x 21 cm, the inscription was found on the ground near the crypt of IGChrEg 19 and IGChrEg 20. μνησθί in line 1 should be read as μνησθείη. While Néroutsos-Bey 1887 & 1888 assumed that line 5 reads μ λ Ἄμμωνος (as in M[ακαρίας] Λ[ήξεως]), Lefebvre 1907 adapts this to Νιλαμμωνος. The final line shows the configuration Α ☧ Ⲱ, the christogram Chi-Rho between alpha and omega.
