Description

O.Trim. 1 252; O.Amheida inv. 196: Memorandum
The fragment (6 x 6 cm) contains the inscription “Mouses son of Psirais, warden of foreigners” on the convex side. This type of tag common in the house found might have accompanied payments or deliveries. However, the ed.pr. proposes that the ostracon is a liturgical nomination, necessitating mention of the office in question. The office is not attested elsewhere, see Bagnall/Ruffini 2012, 44-45 for a discussion.
