Description

P.Oxy. LV 3814, P.Oxy. 55 3814: Letter from Theodoros to Apollonios
In this letter (12 x 25 cm) from one magistrate to another, Theodoros reassures Apollonios, who had written him regarding the recruitment of men to work as carpenters on Trajan’s Canal (τὸν Τραϊανὸν ποταμόν, line 15), worried that it would include his dependents. He promises to send Apollonios the list of intended nominees, which a Dioskoros, who has arrived that evening, knows of. Theodoros also wishes him good health, since he is suffering from an ailment. Line 25 contains the formulation σὺν θεῷ.
