Description

P.Oxy. XX 2276, P.Oxy. 20 2276: Letter from Aurelius Artemidoros to the wife of Aurelius Apollonios
Although nearly complete at the borders, this papyrus sheet (18.2 x 13.5 cm) is illegible on some lines due to holes and being held together by fibers. The sender, Aurelius Artemidoros, and the recipient, the wife of Aurelius Apollonius, are identified by the address on the verso. Apollonius is currently on trial, and Artemidoros reports the newest developments. Mention of Didymus, Kriton son of Epimachos, and Artemidoros’ brother (?) Dioscurides. The farewell includes remnants of the phrase (ἐ)ν κυ[ρίῳ θ]εῷ ἔυχομαι (line 29-30) directed at the wife and her children.
