Description

Nag Hammadi Codex VI

Papyrus codex containing a variety of Gnostic texts in Coptic (Sahidic dialect), said to have been discovered along with 12 other codices in an area near Nag Hammadi, although the precise context and circumstance of their discovery in 1945 remains unclear (Nongbri 2018, 108-115). The contents of Nag Hammadi Codex VI include: 

pp. A-B: blank (lost);
pp. 1-12 (NHC VI, 1): Acta Petri et apostolorum (Acts of Peter and the Twelve Apostles; CC 0641), with final title on p. 12;
pp. 13-21 (NHC VI, 2): Bronte (The Thunder, Perfect Mind; CC 0652) with initial title on p. 13;
pp. 22-35 (NHC VI, 3): Authentikos Logos (Authoritative Teaching; CC 0651), with final title on p. 35;
pp. 36-48 (NHC VI, 4): Noema Magnae Potentiae (Concept of our Great Power; CC 0680), with initial title on p. 36 and final title on p. 48;
pp. 48-51 (NHC VI, 5): Excerptum e Republica (Plato, Republic 588b-589b; CC 0689);
pp. 52-63 (NHC VI, 6): De ogdoade et enneade (Discourse of the Eight and the Ninth; CC 0653), with rests of an initial title on p. 52;
pp. 63-65 (NHC VI, 7): Oratio gratiae (Prayer of Thanksgiving; CC 0684), with initial title on p. 63;
p. 65 (NHC, VI, 7a): Scribal note written in a tabula ansata;
p. 65-78 (NHC, VI 8): Asclepius 21-29 (CC 0650).
