O.Douch IV 361: Payment order

Issued by Biktor son of Petechon, instructing "his beloved father Psilis, priest" to provide "father" Chrestos with one artaba of wheat for the 13th indiction.

The priest Psilis is also mentioned in O.Waqfa 3, 2 where the issuer of the order shows him the same deference in the address.

Palaeography, content and archaeological context.

O.Douch IV 358-390 are dated in the late 4th c. or early 5th c. in ed. pr. (Wagner 1999: viii); see also Carrié 2004: 263 who suggests that the core of the Dūš ostraca were written between 385 and 420.
