Description | O.Douch IV 385: List of guards. List bearing the names of the "guardians of the gates of the great gate". First, the soldiers (stratiotai) and then civilians (paganoi). Among soldiers, some names are suggestive of Christianity, like the theophoric Papnouthes or biblical Esaï, whereas among the paganoi, there is one Samouel. See also O.Douch IV 384. |
