Description | SPP XX 86; CPR I 19; Chrest.Mitt. 69: Petition Petition from Aurelia Demetria alias Ammonia to Sallustius Olympiodoros, principalis of Hermopolis, concerning a dispute over the execution of a purchase (land). While exposing the matter, she explains the former agreement she reached with Eous, wife of Saprikos, and invokes Dioskourides, priest of the Church (l. 8: Διοσ[κ]ουρίδου πρεσ̣β̣υ̣τ̣έ̣ρου τῆς ἐκκλησίας), who served as a witness for this agreement between the two wealthy women. This Demetria alias Ammonia is the mother of Aurelia Charite whose family is thought to be Christian already in the early 4th c. (Bagnall 1995). |
