Description

P.NYU 10: Receipts for Deliveries of Grain.

Badly torn and abraded papyrus which originally formed part of a roll of receipts. Three receipts preserved here, of which the first two are in an upright, elegant, flowing cursive, while the third one is in a smaller and narrower handwriting. In line 12, the signature of the collector (hypodektes) Diogenisis preceded by a staurogram (looking like a crux ansata).

Dated 331 or 346 in ed. pr. but now a date in early 5th c. is preferred after Gascou 1994: 46 and a comparison of P.NYU 8 – part of the same dossier as P.NYU 10 – with P.Mert. II 94 (dated 5th c.).
