| Description | SB XXIV 16000; SB VIII 9902; P.Berl.Bork.: Topographical survey of real estate. Roll register listing over 23 columns all private and public buildings in a city (probably Panopolis) with the names of owners and tenants, and their occupation. Among them, six deacons (with pagan names) and 8 people with names suggestive of Christianity (Theodoros, Theophilos, Theognostos, Theoteknos, Theodora, Senpenouthes, Maria, etc.) out of 350 landholders. Contains one of the earliest mentions of a Christian church (l. 103: οἰκία ἤτοι ἐκκλισίας (l. ἐκκλησίας), with P.Oxy. I 43 verso (295-305?, Oxyrhynchos). Recto: cursive handwriting, written along the fibres. Verso: blank. |
