Description | P.NagHamm. C 5 Letter from Aphrodisi(os) to Sansnos in Coptic (L) written on the back of a letter sent to the same Aphrodisios (P.NagHamm. C 4). The addressee seems to be the same Sansnos whose name appears extensively in the correspondence in the cover of Nag Hammadi Codex VII. Aphrodisi(os) asks Sansnos to postpone the sending of wheat which he had asked for. The delay is justified by his sickness, which seems to be so severe that he does not know whether he will survive ("for I do not know what is going to befall me, whether I shall come out of the body or I shall live"). He further asks Sansnos to get some money from a certain Abraham and give a part of the sum to a Moses. The sums of these transactions are large. The letter stands out by the extraordinarily large amount of spelling and grammatical errors. |
