Description

P.NagHamm. C 4

Letter from Daniel to his "beloved father" Aphrodisios in Coptic (S with some dialectal influences). The letter is simply asking for news from Aphrodisios in the context of his "serious illness" (l. 5-6), about which we are also informed in P.NagHamm. C 5. Daniel  expresses his relief about Aphrodisios' apparent recovery. Both sender and addressee are members of religious communities. Aphrodisios in particular seems to have held a leadership position, judging by the way he is addressed by Daniel. The letter was reused by Aphrodisios, who, despite his status, was much less literate than Daniel, to write a letter to Sansnos (P.NagHamm. C 5).
