Description | I.Oasis p. 60 no. 2; SB XX 14844; SEG XXXVIII 1813: dipinto of the soldier Abraam Dipinto painted in black. Height 5 cm.; width: 17 cm.; letters from 0,7 to 1 cm high. Right under I.Oasis p. 59-60 no. 1 but in a different, smaller hand. Four lines written by "Abraam, hermonthites soldier of the Oasis --- and the five of us --- pray for me". According to ed.pr., Abraam was a soldier in the Legio II Valentiniana stationed in Hermonthis, part of a detachment sent to the Oasis Magna. Other soldiers from the same legio left their name in the area, like Psenesis in al-Baǧawāt (I.Oasis p. 68-69 no. 10) or Plenis, caballarius in Šams al-Dīn (I.Oasis p. 34, no. 40). |
